Nanci M. House Biography

Nanci, a southeastern Kentucky native, is a partner at White, McCann & Stewart, PLLC and practices mainly in the area of family law and contract formation and dispute. Nanci appears regularly in Clark, Madison, Fayette, Powell and Montgomery Circuit and Family courts, as well as several of the other surrounding counties.

Nanci graduated magna cum laude from Transylvania University in 2000, with a B.A. in History and a minor in Political Science. While at Transylvania, Nanci was the Chief Hearing Officer for the Student Judicial Board, was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary, was Phi Alpha Theta history honorary president, was on the dance team, was a Student Orientation Leader, was a writing center tutor and was involved in many other service and community organizations. Nanci graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2003, where she was in the top 11% of her class and received the CALI award in Torts. While at UK law school, Nanci was an editor for the Kentucky Law Journal, was a member of the Honor Council, was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, was President of the Women's Law Caucus and was historian for the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.

Nanci was sworn in as a member of the Kentucky Bar Association in 2003 and has practiced at White, McCann & Stewart, PLLC since that time. Nanci is also licensed to practice law in federal court, in the Eastern District of Kentucky and before the United States Supreme Court. Nanci became a partner at White, McCann & Stewart, PLLC in 2008. Nanci is a member of the Clark, Madison and Fayette county bar associations.

Nanci is an active member of many community and service organizations. In 2013, Nanci received the Kentucky Bar Association's Young Lawyers' Service to the Community Award. Nanci is a Past President of the Junior League of Lexington and has served on numerous boards and committees. Nanci won the 2016 Junior League of Lexington Volunteer of the Year award. Nanci serves on the board of directors for the Chrysalis House and has served as President. Nanci is on the board of directors for The Well and is otherwise very involved in attempting to better her community.

Nanci's practice is varied and includes all areas of family law, including but not limited to divorce, custody, paternity, child support, timesharing, grandparents' rights, pre-nuptial agreement, post-nuptial agreements, termination of parental rights and abuse, neglect and dependency. Nanci has also worked extensively as Guardian Ad Litem for children. Nanci also handles contract formation and dispute, general civil litigation, appellate practice, estate planning, social security disability (SSI and RSDI), personal injury, administrative law and appeals, business entity formation, collection, and medical malpractice.
